An update on the Covid-19 Vaccination programme in central Lancashire

NHS invites people 60+ to join eligible groups in getting the Covid-19 vaccination. Here’s how…

Those who are aged 60-63 are now invited to book their Covid-19 vaccination. Letters are being sent to all eligible residents across the area who have not already received their invitation, but you do not need to have received this national invitation to book your appointment.

Those who are over 64 or a frontline health and social care worker and not yet received their vaccination are also encouraged to book through the national booking system as soon as possible.

If you are aged 16-64 with an underlying health condition that puts you at greater risk or are listed on your own medical record as the carer of someone who is at greater risk, you will be contacted by your GP practice to invite you for your vaccine when they have one for you.

Please don’t worry if you don’t get a call straight away as there are lots of people within this cohort and it will take some time to vaccinate everyone. You will be contacted as soon as practically possible.

NHS teams are visiting those who are housebound and cannot travel to a vaccination service.

How to book an appointment at a regional vaccination centre

Online: The national booking service can be accessed at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination.

Telephone: Those who cannot go online can call 119 free of charge anytime between 7am and 11pm seven days a week.

You can attend any site available on the national booking system, including the central Lancashire centres at Preston Grasshoppers and the St John’s shopping centre in Preston City Centre. Appointment slots at regional sites are being regularly updated. If you are not able to find a site accessible to you, check again for updated options.

What happens then…

When attending your appointment, please arrive on time. Arriving too early may make it difficult to maintain social distancing. Please do not attend a centre without an appointment. You will get turned away.

You'll need to bring:

  • A face covering, unless you cannot wear one for a health or disability reason.
  • Your booking reference numbers if your appointment is at a vaccination centre.

Not yet eligible?

For those not yet eligible for an appointment at a regional centre or through one of the GP led clinics, thank you for your patience. Staff are working hard to vaccinate as many people as possible. You will be contacted when it is your turn.

Whether you have had your vaccine or not, please continue to follow all the guidance in place to control the virus and save lives.

We are incredibly proud of all staff and volunteers who have been facilitating the roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccination programme in Lancashire and South Cumbria. Thank you to everyone involved!

Lancashire and South Cumbria Covid-19 vaccination hits major milestone

In a major milestone more than half a million patients in Lancashire and South Cumbria have now been vaccinated against coronavirus since December 2020.

Vaccines are being delivered at hospital hubs, GP-led vaccination centres, Pharmacy-led vaccination centres, mass vaccination sites, care homes and to housebound residents across the area.

The rollout of the vaccine and establishing vaccination sites has involved a wide range of organisations working together. Wider partners including local councils, the military, the police, local businesses, and many more are supporting the NHS to deliver the COVID-19 vaccination programme in the area.

People who have received an invitation letter can book their slot online via the national booking service. Anyone unable to book online can call 119 free of charge, anytime between 7am and 11pm seven days a week.
