Recruitment has begun for a staff team to launch a new rehabilitation unit at Royal Preston Hospital.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals aims to fill 50 roles across various specialities including nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and support roles at the new unit, due to open later this year.
There will be a mix of secondment opportunities, permanent roles and fixed-term contracts.

The new 28-bed unit is designed to support intermediate care capacity for rehabilitation and enhance the current offer in existing community units. It will predominantly cater for patients requiring two or more people to move and handle them and require more intensive rehabilitation.
Patients will be referred from all inpatient areas of Preston and Chorley Hospitals.
The new unit will operate on an ‘early supported discharge’ model, enabling staff to continue to support and assess patients in their own homes following initial care in the unit.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Professional Lead Physiotherapist Claire Granato said: “We are delighted to announce a brand new, therapy-led intermediate care service will be opening later this year at Royal Preston Hospital.
“It will offer huge improvements to the local rehabilitation provision available and enhance outcomes for patients in Lancashire and South Cumbria.
“We are looking to recruit a first-class therapy and nursing team to deliver a high quality rehabilitation service over seven days so that our patients can achieve their recovery goals and get back to the comfort of their home environment at the earliest opportunity.”
