The annual City of Preston 5 & 10 mile Road Races event took place on Sunday 9th August, organised by Preston City Council in partnership with Rosemere Cancer Foundation and sponsored by Athena Healthcare. Runners had the option to either do one or two laps, and the impressive course was used by England Athletics for the National 5 mile road race championships in 2019!
Dan Hill, Chief Officer at Rosemere Cancer Foundation took part in the race, joined by other members of the Rosemere team, including Olivia Kneale, Lindsay Kellett and Carole Bartlett.
The event had 150 runners in total over the two distances, who did a staggered start at 6 sec intervals as part of a series of social distancing measures. The race began at Walmer Bridge in South Ribble, and was the first organised road race to go ahead in the country since national lockdown in March.
We want to say a huge thank you and congratulations to Dan, Olivia, Lindsay and Carole for their wonderful efforts – well done!
