A new book about Preston North End Football Club is taking the community by storm.
North End Souls 2, which tells the story of 16 PNE greats, has been snapped up by around 1,000 people – that’s half of the available 2,000 copies sold in less than a month.
Keith Harrison, Writer, Leader in Residence at UCLan and author of North End Souls 2, said:
“The response has been amazing, with almost half the 2,000 books sold in the first month alone. The book has sold to North Enders in the Preston area and PNE fans all over the world in places like China, Australia, mainland Europe, South Africa, Brazil and right across the USA. I've had some fantastic feedback from the people who are in it - legends like Alex Bruce, Mike Elwiss and Andy Saville - and nothing but good reviews from those who have read it.
“One person told me they sat down at 8am to read it and went through the whole thing in a day - so that's a sign that you really can't put it down! I'm delighted to be raising money for Baby Beat, as it’s a fantastic charity that does amazing work.”
Baby Beat’s Cathy Skidmore said:
“We were so delighted and grateful to Keith when he told us that 10% of the profits of the book would be donated to Baby Beat. The book has been a huge hit across the world, and we’ve certainly seen a great deal of interest in the copies we have in the Baby Beat shop at Royal Preston Hospital. The money will be spent on improving care for mums, babies and staff at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. We’d like to say a massive thank you for Keith for such a wonderful gesture.”
