Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity chosen as this year’s Charity of the Year by Arco Clothing Centre.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, staff at the Preston based centre have made an outstanding contribution to help support their customers and local charities that are close to their hearts.
During lockdown, the company held their own ‘Spread a Little Kindness’ competition, which involved staff and their families designing an NHS inspired rainbow that could be made, coloured or sewn. Over £5,000 was raised and the winner chose Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity to receive the donation.
Continuing their acts of kindness, staff recently chose the Hospital charity as their Charity of the Year, which will see staff hold raffles, collections and more challenges and competitions throughout the year.
Mandy Keenan, Customer Service Manager at Arco Clothing Centre said: “Our Charity of the Year is the result of a ballot of all our colleagues.
“People vote for the charity that means the most to them; LTHC was the winner by a very long way this year, and that says a lot.”
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity helps to provide extra care and support for both staff and patients that is beyond core funding; including helping to refurbish hospital environments, installing state-of-the art equipment, and supporting research projects to improve people’s health outcomes.
Rebecca Moon, Corporate and Community Fundraiser for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals said: “'We are absolutely thrilled to have been chosen as Charity of the Year.
“Arco Clothing Centre has been so incredibly generous, and it is wonderful to see a local business supporting their local hospital in such a big way. The monies raised throughout the year will make a huge difference to all the patients we treat and our dedicated workforce.”
