This week we are marking Infection Prevention and Control week with a daily item on a specific subject.
Dr W Khan, Consultant Cardiologist, introduces today’s topic. The simple yet complicated Aseptic Non Touch Technique or ANTT.
Aseptic technique is a clinical practice aimed to protect patients from contamination or infection during a wide range of clinical procedures; therefore, it is essential that health care workers (HCW’s) are properly educated and trained in it. On the face of it, an aseptic technique seems simple and straightforward. In practice it is surprisingly complicated. To this end, The ANTT Theory & Practice framework provides a logical and standard set of rules that clinical staff have evaluated highly.
