Lancashire Teaching Hospitals hosted a Maternity Conference 2023 on Thursday, 15 June in Education Centre 1 at Royal Preston Hospital, with a number of lectures from key speakers.
The conference, which took place over seven hours, was about coming together to learn, inspire and improve our maternity services, with poster presentations showcasing the exciting changes and innovations that are happening across the service.
Key speakers included Alexandra Murphy - Public Health, Prevention and Early Intervention Strategic Manager NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB, Tracy Marsden, Lancashire and South Cumbria Reproductive Trauma Service Manager, Jo Dorrity - Transformation Programme Manager NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB, Catherine Chmiel, North West Maternal Medicine Network Lead Midwife, Kelly Shaw - Perinatal Pelvic Health Lead LTHTR, Katrina Rigby, Lead Midwife for Research, Dan Blackman, Dads Matter, and Chantelle Winstanley, Consultant Midwife.
There was also a ‘Flashes of Brilliance’ competition for people to put forward their ideas to improve our service, won by Louise Harrison, who came up with some interesting ideas for improving the birth environments.
