Thanks to generous funding from NHS Charities Together, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity has been able to add the finishing touches to newly renovated junior doctors’ rest areas.
The smart TVs, provided through a grant from NHS Charities Together and Starbucks, complete the fresh-look area to allow doctors the space to rest and recuperate away from clinical ward settings.
Starbucks has partnered with NHS Charities Together by donating 50p from the sale of every colour-changing cup to raise awareness of the remarkable efforts of healthcare and frontline workers.
Dr Deborah Kendall, Consultant at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, said: “The smallest things make a big difference. Having a modern and peaceful space for colleagues to rest during their break time, away from the busy ward environment, is so important for their health and wellbeing which helps to provide our patients with the excellent care that they deserve.”
Across the Trust, a range of programmes is beginning to take shape to improve rest and recreation areas for all staff who work at the Royal Preston and Chorley and South Ribble hospital sites, which have in part been funded through NHS Charities Together and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity.
The smart TVs offer junior doctors a range of multimedia uses, including access to the internet to watch educational content and to find out what is happening across others areas of the Trust.
Paula Wilson, Head of Charities and Fundraising for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are delighted to have been able to add the finishing touches to our junior doctor’s rest areas thanks to the generous donation received from NHS Charities Together and Starbucks.
“Our colleagues work exceptionally hard to provide our patients with outstanding care and I hope they can use this space to enjoy a well-deserved break away from their work areas.”
