Professor Ruth Endacott, National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Director of Nursing and Midwifery, recently visited Royal Preston Hospital, spending time in the Sharoe Green Maternity Unit with the Women and Children's Research Team.
During her visit she held conversations with Deputy Divisional Midwifery and Nursing Director Jo Lambert, Consultant Midwife Jo Goss and Gynaecology Research Champion Denise Halliwell, and Prof. Endacott enjoyed hearing about how the team have embedded and continue to embed research into clinical settings within their areas.
She also enjoyed a tour of the Lancashire Clinical Research Facility, the Research and Innovation Department, and met with Sarah Morrison and other chief nurses and Allied Health Professionals from neighboring Trusts, as well as the research teams, to gain further insight and understanding regarding our set up and systems, including challenges with research delivery in this current climate.
Prof. Endacott heard about local achievements of research staff, and how our communities are being receptive to participate in research studies and clinical trials.
She also met with senior staff across Lancashire and South Cumbria, talking about topics such as clinical academia and available awards through the NIHR.
