Lancashire Community Healthcare Hub, also known as Finney House, is run by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and is dedicated to providing exceptional residential and nursing care services in a purpose-built home, creating a warm environment where residents can enjoy high standards of care and compassion.
The Trust took over the lease of the building in November 2022 to become the CQC-registered provider of services, taking on all 96 beds at the facility. The first floor (Buttercup) and second floor (Meadow) allows the Trust to discharge patients from both Chorley and Royal Preston Hospitals who no longer need the specialist care provided in an acute bed, freeing up much needed space for those who need urgent and emergency medical care.
There are a further 32 beds on the top floor (Orchard) which allow the Trust to continue to provide care for Local Authority or private residents. People with dementia are also looked after at the facility.
Our offering
- Comfortable and private living: The Community Healthcare Hub is a purpose-built home. We benefit from all residents having their own sizeable individual rooms, all with individual shower en-suites. There are two lounges within the unit and two smaller lounges ideal for small activities and visits from family, loved ones and friends. There is also a large communal hub area which has a large dining area, kitchenette and activities corner.
- Garden and activities: The smaller lounges and some of the rooms overlook our own garden, which we try to use as much as we can in the nice weather. The unit has its own dedicated activities coordinators providing activities for individuals and in groups. The unit has weekly visits from the hairdresser and a podiatrist – these are charged separately.
- In-house services: We have access to in-house services such as speech and language therapy, dieticians, occupational therapists and physiotherapists, and we have a referral system in place, with residents seen in a timely manner.
- Specialised Care and Professional Staff: We have staff who have experience in providing acute care, including recognising deteriorating residents and acting appropriately. The staff have the skills and training in giving a full, comprehensive handover to a GP or other medical practitioners, who we have a good working relationship with. Nurses have a lot of various nursing experience, including providing dementia care, general nursing and residential care and maintain their training at Trust standard.
- Dignity and Compassion: We treat our residents with the utmost dignity, respect, and compassion. We pride ourselves on the care that we give to our residents and treat them as we would our own family.
- Community Care Environment: Through strong partnerships with Lancashire Care and relevant care commissioning groups, we ensure that our residents' needs are met in a holistic and supportive community care environment.
- Open Communication and Involvement: Our leadership team regularly meets with relatives, encouraging open communication and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.

Testimonials
Mark Wenlock: “My Dad Frank was a resident here for the last three years of his life. In November 2022 it underwent a massive overhaul of the way it was run and the people that operated it. We saw a massive improvement in staff numbers and the interaction that all the residents get. Dad became more alert and settled.
The leadership team are world class, and this passes down to the staff and the care that’s provided, they are very approachable and actively seek out feedback to improve, and the communication is excellent.
The building was purpose-built, so it’s very easy to get people in and out of the rooms, and the rooms are of such a size, transferring from chairs to beds is very easy and stress free. It allowed my dad to keep his dignity in the later years of his illness.
Sadly our journey has ended, and I will never be able to express my gratitude to everyone at Finney House. If the time comes for me to be placed into a residential home and it’s still run by the same people, it will be the only home that I will want to be in.”
The Booth family: “My mother has been in Finney House for nearly 6 years. For some time, her care decreased so significantly we were constantly in touch with the CQC and actively seeking another residential home for her to move to. In November 2022, the NHS took over the running of Finney House, and I can only say it has been a 100% improvement. There are always going to be minor issues, but these are now addressed by the nursing care teams and management at the home, who are always available. Previously I would not have recommended Finney House to anyone but now I would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment to a friend or another family member.”
