Critical Care Follow Up Clinic
Critical care follow-up clinic is to support patients and their relatives following critical illness.
While some patients make a good recovery following their critical care stay, some can experience ongoing problems. The ongoing problems can include
Physical issues, such as
- weakness
- joint problems
- breathlessness
- pain
- sexual dysfunction.
Pschological issues, such as
- anxiety
- depression
- problems with memory, concentration and tasks.
These issues can affect work, school or study, finances and relationships.
Why come to CRCU follow up clinic.
The clinic provides the opportunity for patients to discuss what they recall from their stay on critical care, what they should expect from their recovery and for us to see what progress has been made following their discharge.
The clinic gives patients and families the opportunity to ask questions about their stay on CRCU and find out more about what happened to them.
We will also offer patients and their relatives the opportunity to visit the unit and see the bed space which they stayed in. This can help them to see the environment in a safe manner.
Patients are seen by a critical care nurse and psychologist and may be seen by a critical care consultant depending on their needs.
When will you get an invite?
