RD&I Targets – Performance in Initiating and Delivering Clinical Research
The Government wishes to see a dramatic and sustained improvement in the performance of providers of NHS services in initiating and delivering clinical research. The aim is to increase the number of patients who have the opportunity to participate in research and to enhance the nation’s attractiveness as a host for research.
As part of our contractual arrangements with the Department of Health, the Trust is required to publish, on a quarterly basis, information on recruitment to clinical trials within the last 12 months. This performance is measured against the following targets:
- Performance on Initiating (PI) - Date Site Selected (i.e. date of provision of the local information package by the Sponsor including the HRA Inital Assessment Letter) to the Date of First Participant Recruited.
- Performance on Delivery (PD) Number of commercial clinical trials that complete target recruitment prior to study recruitment closure (PD) for the last 12 months.
