Taxi service
Local taxi firms also offer a service to and from the hospital. Free-phones are available at the Preston site to make taxi bookings.
Shuttle bus service
We provide a shuttle bus service between Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley and South Ribble Hospital. Tickets can be purchased from the General Offices, which are in the main entrances to both hospitals and are open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (except bank holidays). The price per single journey is £3.00.
The bus stops are at the Gordon Hesling Block entrance at Royal Preston Hospital and the main entrance at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital.
The service is subject to available seating and the purchase of a ticket does not guarantee travel on the next available shuttle bus. We do not accept any liability for any property loss or damage incurred on the shuttle bus service or during transit. Such property is brought onto the vehicle at your own risk.
The conditions of carriage for a child are that they must be accompanied by parent or guardian at all times and use a seat belt or an appropriate child car restraint/booster cushion.
It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that:
- Children under three years of age use an appropriate child restraint
- Children aged from three years up to their 12th birthday, and less than 1.35 metres (approx 4'5") tall, must use an appropriate child restraint if available, or if not available, wear the seat belt.
- Children aged 12 and 13 years (and younger children who are 1.35 metres or taller) use the seat belt.
The contracted operator is not required to provide child seats because it is not practical for them to carry a range of different child seats on their vehicles. However, as a condition for child transfers parents or others must supply their own child car seat for a use on the minibus journey. The contracted operator displays a sign in the minibus notifying of the requirement to wear a seat belt, but each passenger or accompanying adult is legally responsible for wearing their seat belt when the vehicle has them fitted.
The driver reserves the right to deny transfer of anyone not complying with these requirements.

The shuttle bus service between Chorley hospital and Royal Preston hospital operates Monday to Friday, there is no weekend service.

Chorley and South Ribble Hospital
A number of bus companies operate services to Chorley and South Ribble Hospital via routes throughout local areas.
Bus numbers 114, 119, 125, 126, 210, 301, 302, C8, and C9 all pass Chorley and South Ribble Hospital.
